If the carriers are needed elsewhere for higher-priority goods (boards, stone, logs, etc.), they won't grab the coal/ores.ĥ) I usually only cast Heavenly Gift if getting lucky with it will make a huge difference in my economy. If the smelters/smiths don't have coal/ore, check to see if you have enough carriers.

Manna doesn't require tools or special terrain (besides trees).Ĥ) Were the smelters/smithies working, or did they have a full pile of weapons/tools out front? If you had plenty of carriers and free settlers, perhaps you just needed a storage area (for tools) and another barracks (for weapons) to clear space for them to work. Gongs, while expensive, let you take out large fortifications without dealing with returning to base for ammo. Amazons: Alchemist makes gold+iron bars super cheaply (just gems+sulfur instead of gold ore+coal and iron ore+coal).

Large buildings (ones that need > one pile of 8 of one or both materials) can be built slightly faster because boards get used first, and Asian buildings need mostly boards. Basically infinite building materials with priests' ability to summon building stones, and low stone usage means finding new deposits is less urgent than other races. Asians: Quick promotion once you get rice+coal. Also, stone is faster to create than boards since you only need a stonecutter. You can have your soldiers' strength high quickly if you find some to attack early. They produce quickly (all you need is the bucket from the mine) and are 2x more effective than gold. For various reasons (including promotion speed, which you alluded to), they're certainly the strongest race for the AI, all things being equal.

It's odd that it's not in the game, though they did add that feature in Settlers 4.ģ) As a casual player, it's always seemed to me that the Romans are strongest. One time, I was alone in one corner, another time I was next to three AIs in the middle of the map.Ģ) There's not any way to change AI race/color for random scenarios that I know of. I just started up a few max sized random games with six players on team 1 to show their starting locations, and there wasn't any noticeable bias in the three games I started. Are there other perks that make all the races any special?Ĥ.at one point in the late-mid game, I have built a lot of large residencies and my mines are full but somehow my carriers just don't carry the bags to smelters/smithies thus hampering my military production.ĥ.Heavenly gift worth it or should I use priests for battle?Ħ.Is there any map pack for S3 which makes singleplayer interesting? The random maps are ok and in built maps are lackluster unless played on multiplayer.ħ.Any AI overhaul available? Cuz the AI seems to never build boats/artillery and sometimes acts like an idiot like using the last stone for a mine/tower rather than a stonecutter thus softlocking itselfġ) I haven't noticed that in any of the games I've played.

In random map is irt always rigged to have enemies close by? Because even if I take 6 players(me+5 enemies)on the max possible map size it'll always spawn 3 players in one corner and 3 players in like the adjacent corner(instead of the opposite corner) with more than half the map totally unoccupied.Ģ.Is there no option to choose AI race/colorģ.It feels like Romans get an unfair advantage in this game - the best priest, fastest manna generation and least number of mines. I have the history version and am loving S3(been my favourite since childhood when I had a demo of the amazons expansion) but a few questions bug me still.ġ.
